Heat loss calculation
Part of a well designed floor heating system is to know the actual heat loss from the room which should be covered. But it is often difficult to calculate and in old houses it is often difficult to find details about how the building is constructed.
If you know your present energy consumption Q [kWh] for your house and the total living area A [m2], you can estimate the room heat loss qroom [W/m2] using this simple formula: qroom =0,5•Q/A. For bathrooms and rooms on upper floors you should add 20-50%. For prior unheated rooms like basements please contact your local DEVI office.
Next step is to determine the heatable floor area Aheat. This means that the area covered by cupboards, bathtubs, lavatories, etc. has to be deducted from the total room area Aroom.
In order to ensure a quickly responding heating system, the total calculated output has to be increased by approx. 30%.
