Roof Applications

The DEVI Ice and Snow melting system covers the most common roof applications like roof constructions, roof gutters, down pipes, and valley gutters.

Required Output
To determine the required output (W/m2) of an ice and snow melting system for a roof it is important to consider the type of roof construction in question and the local weather conditions.

In general, all roofs fall into two categories:

1. A cold roof - well-insulated roof with a low upward heat loss.

2. A hot roof - not well-insulated or/and the attic is used as a living areas.

The general guidelines for choosing the output for the installation are presented below:

Area Cold Roof Hot Roof Cable rating
Gutter valley, roof surface 200-250W/m2 250-300W/m2 20-30W/m
Roof gutter, down pipe

30-40W/m

40-50W/m

20-30W/m

Zone support saves energy

The Devireg 850 lets you divide your area into 2 zones, eg. a North and South side. In this way it is possible to save energy, when the South side is free of ice and snow faster because of the heat from the sun.

You can also prioritize between the zones, e.g. if you have limited power supply. This way e.g. the pavement is made free of snow before the power is focussed on the roof and gutters.

In this way Devireg 850 is both economical and scalable no matter if the application is commercial or residential.
