Tracing in and outside pipes
DEVI pipe tracing systems can be installed inside or outside pipes, for indoor and outdoor pipe networks.
Pipe tracing outside
Heating cables outside pipes are installed between pipe and insulation. The required output depends on pipe dimensions, insulation thickness and temperatures in and around the pipe.
Outdoor pipes
Outdoor pipes above the ground are especially exposed to cold and consequently, good insulation is necessary.
For frost protection an output of 10 W/m is sufficient if:
- the pipe diameter is <50 mm
- the insulation is >50 mm
- the outdoor temperature is >-30°C
Frost protection on underground pipes is relevant when a frost free depth can’t be reached. With or without insulation DEVI has a long life solution to offer with our constant wattage cables.
